Does Will Smith feel like a fool today? And what about un-comedian Chris Rock?

I’m wondering if these two famous men are feeling rather stupid this week after their ‘show’ at the Oscars?

I LOVE the world of film, love, love, love it. I would go to the cinema two or three times a week if I could and I watch my favourite films over and over again.

I’m not however a huge follower of the Oscars (the Academy Awards) or the BAFTAs or other such awards because I’m not a huge celebrity groupie (I have my moments yet they are few and far between) and I often don’t agree with the choices made by so-called experts. I also tend to think of all the 100s of people involved in a production, not just the few who bring it to life on screen.

I want to be entertained by a film, taken to another place, enter into another world, be moved, be thrilled, be transported. I will notice the use of sound, lack of sound, the editing, the music, the location…all of those elements and people who go into making a wonderful movie that I enjoy. It’s all about me and what I like and chose to invest in.

Films like The Power of the Dog didn’t move me and comments by people like Kenneth Branagh ‘build it and they will come’ don’t mean anything much to me. I have an awareness of these events however I’ll rarely stay up late to watch them or sit down for three hours to watch award after award.
