EVER BEEN IN AN ESCAPE ROOM?

THIS week’s episode of The Apprentice in the UK (episode 3) saw the candidates being challenged to create a virtual escape room experience — and create marketing for it — to pitch to investors.

Sounds simple. Yet, for me, having done a few escape room experiences and pretty much loathed all of them — I made the assumption there would be some kind of jeopardy in a ‘room’ or ‘enclosed space’ where you had to escape from that space into another space etc etc. Clearly my concept of what this task would entail fell far short…

Then there was the first important task of naming the two teams given that Lord Sugar has now mixed the teams up — bearing in mind that in the first two episodes of the series had seen the girls make mincemeat of the boys. Thus were born Team Nexus and Team Supream (and no, that’s not a mistake, there was some daft inexplicable reason that made sense to this team but not to anyone else).

Flo took the lead at Team Nexus much to the chagrin of team mate Dr Paul Midha who was so sure he should take the lead. Yet it was Flo’s previous success in pitching that won the day. However her very strong idea of creating a medieval ‘escape’ game in a village threatened by plaque where players had to find ingredients of a potion which would cure them. Not much involved escaping but their strong main character did add some colour. The game was…
