WHAM BAMI!

Well here we are and it was week 2 of the new series of The Apprentice in the UK as the now 17 would-be entrepreneurs fought it out again to get a small step closer to a £250,000 investment from Lord Alan Sugar.

And the task this week was to create an avatar, virtual ‘pop star’ complete with look, song and vibe which big brands (eight in all including Debenhams, Jeep, Garmin, Aston Martin) might buy into…as this is, apparently, the new big ‘thing’ in marketing.

Keeping to the same teams as week 1 — Amber-Rose, who runs a convenience store put herself forward as she has experience of branding but so did Jordan, who is a 3D animation specialist working from his home city of Dublin. There was a vote and Jordan’s relevant expertise was outvoted. However there was a feeling that of course Amber-Rose would ask him to be her sub team leader. But oh no this stubborn woman opted for someone who had no experience in this area. A touch of genius or a touch of madness? Still Amber-Rose had to put up with gobby Nadia — how would she, as a leader, deal with someone who seems pathologically pushy?

On the other team, for the first time I can remember, Anisha Khan, who runs a pizza company, put herself to be project manager again — a week after leading her team to an embarrassing loss. No one objected so it was a brave decision on her part. And she had to put up with…
