Katie Neeves who founded Cool2BTrans & now educates companies & organisations around what it means to be a trans person

JUNE is the month of PRIDE in the UK and it’s something I pay attention to — as it’s a month which is so needed to raise awareness about members of the LGTBQ+ community who are still fighting for rights and for acceptance.

It’s something I feel strongly about and am a proud trans ally. I have to say that wasn’t always the case and I’ve taken steps to educate myself and much of that education is thanks to Katie.

I first met Katie a few years ago at an event in London and listened to her story. I was fascinated, curious and, due to the fact, that Katie and I are of a similar age, I felt able to ask her loads of questions. I was so worried that in asking questions I might cause offence or say the wrong thing or use the wrong words. I think this simple thing can hold people back in becoming more savvy around these matters.

Katie recognises this and helps forward-thinking companies and organisations embrace a future — and in fact the law — around protected characteristics and how to be more inclusive in their internal behaviours and processes. Katie has won numerous awards for her tireless work to bring about positive trans awareness, often in the face of hatred, bile and prejudice.
