I’LL TEACH YOU HOW TO MAKE MONEY ON YOUTUBE….

Have you ever had one of those requests or offers. I had one recently from a woman I didn’t know.

It was a friendship request so I had a look at her profile and it was all about building an online business and making money, particularly around YT.

Out of interest I thought I’d look at her profile on YT, after all if you are going to pay someone to help you build a profile on a social media platform, you want to know if they are walking their talk? Don’t you?

Interestingly she’s uploaded over 170 videos and has 195 subscribers. I’m sure she’s worked hard to get them however that’s not many.

As some of you will know I have a personal YT channel with my husband Steve about our caravan adventures (Beyond That Blue Door). You can find it here — https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUrkbsv5zCi9sxlwRlRPTqA

At time of writing we have uploaded 142 videos and have over 830 subscribers. We’ve just passed a milestone of 95,000 views and that’s been hard won. It’s very modest yet quite a little more than this person who wants to teach me to sell on YT!

Would I ask someone to pay me for my expertise on YT — yes I would — yet it would be more around getting started, the mistakes we’ve made, how to hit milestones and what to expect. Not how to make a shedload of cash because there is no magic bullet, no special way, it’s leg work and putting in the graft.

As with any social media platform it requires work and effort and time to build. All of us have to start somewhere and I’m afraid no one should rely on the mantra of ‘build it and they will come’. No it’s got to be ‘start building it, talk about it, share it and talk about it some more and then again, again again and again and perhaps they will come’.

I do find it rather hilarious though that someone is out there selling their ‘steps’ for building a YT business when there’s no way they can be making a single penny from the size of channel they have got. Unless of course she has another channel somewhere else under another name, I saw no evidence of that in her blatant sales pitch.
