LUXURY OR LAME?
As the next episode of the UK TV series The Apprentice aired tonight, Lord Sugar set a task for the remaining 13 candidates. They were sent to Turkiye and told to arrange a corporate day out for two teams in two different regions, providing a wonderful experience for the lowest possible cost. The team which had the most profit would win, and it was no slam dunk as guests could ask for a refund. The question was — would they?
One team firstly had an embarrassment of would-be project managers with Jonny, Liam, Freddie and Chisola all putting their hats in the ring. Chisola won the day and Jonny, when offered the opportunity to be sub-team leader, refused — he didn’t know much about catering. Their ‘away’ day was a four-wheel drive down a mountain, then a ‘fine dining’ experience and a team-building activity of some kind. The sub-team was headed up by new bossy boots Anisa who is increasingly the self-appointed fount of all knowledge.
First signs were good, they negotiated a healthy deal with the telecommunications client and pulled in around 4,000 Euros with the client being clear they wanted a ‘luxury’ experience and true fine dining. This was reiterated several times, a very clear signal in the editing that what they would get would be something quite different.
The other team quickly accepted Keir as their team leader and they chose a hot air balloon experience…
