Which market food would win the day in the latest episode of The Apprentice UK

This week’s episode promised much — a foodie task, to be given a large amount of a single ingredient and to sell it and use it to make money. One team got tomatoes, the other potatoes. The aim to bulk sell to some specially set-up corporate deals (including the brand Zizzi) and to create some market food to sell at Greenwich Market in London.

Sounds easy? Gobby Nadia put herself up as project manager for the first time. Not short of ego, how would this entrepreneur get on? She claimed to come from a food background with family members running kebab and fish & chip shops. Anisha wanted to be PM yet again but, as Lord Sugar said later, she can’t run the show on all tasks even if she does have experience in food.

In the other team Mia Collins, who has a foodie business, stepped up and it quickly became clear that she would jar with Jordan, who has quietly proved that he thinks he knows best (he has a little of Nadia’s inflated ego). How would that pan out? In the kitchen, he claimed she was just too positive. Very odd.

The project managers sent their sub team leaders off to do a corporate deal — with very little guidance. One agreed to provide around 130 kg of diced, de-seeded tomatoes for just over a fiver a kilo? What? Doing that in a morning. It was clear no one had a foggiest clue what a monumental task that would be for a whole kitchen of…
