Me and that groupie moment, wouldn’t have put this image with a press release!

This weekend in the UK would have seen an event which brings huge business and interest to my part of the world — The Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire.

This event would mean hotel rooms would be hard to come by in Swindon, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. It also meant I’d see teams of colourful men representing pilot teams from all over the world wandering in and out of town centre hotels. Coaches would fill the local car parks.

There would be groups of amazing planes flying overhead in formation and as local residents we would see the Red Arrows, spitfires and a Lancaster bomber to name a few. It’s simply magical.

This event is the biggest of its kind in Europe, and yet it happens near a very small town, just a few miles down the road and attracts a global audience raising loadsa money for good causes. RAF Fairford itself often attracts 100s of spotters waiting for planes to pass over. Indeed earlier this year as I was driving nearby, a shadow fell across my car suddenly and I slowed down. As I looked up a stealth bomber slowly passed overhead. It was a ‘wow’ moment.

We all know why this event has stopped this year, just one of thousands of events which cannot go ahead. However…

It’s all online today and tomorrow virtually and you can see it here —…
