Using Comedy To Share A Message & Perhaps Go Viral!
As some of you may know, I’m talking all things comedy and laughter this month, as it can be a powerful PR tool — and one that hardly anyone is using.
It can evoke awe, laughter, amusement and can appeal to people’s more narcissistic side. These types of posts are shareable, which is how things can go viral!
Why is it such a powerful tool? Disruptive marketing can lead to both good and bad comments so you have to be ready for that — it won’t suit everyone because you can’t please everyone all of the time (plus us British love a good moan!).
If this type of marketing is done in the right way though, it could go viral and it certainly creates a memory hook.
Viral: something becoming popular very quickly through communication = Visibility & Brand Awareness
If you want a post to go viral, you need to know what triggers sharing and engagement in the first place.
Some recent examples where this has worked well:
*Nationwide’s lockdown advert — these ones are perfect because they are relevant, funny and shareable. One of them is about virtual yoga and what one gentleman learned about it during lockdown — what he learned, he said, is that it’s free & you don’t have to do it!
