WHAT ARE YOUR BOUNDARIES IN BUSINESS & LIFE?
This week I’m going to cover a different topic and just mix things up a little. While I love talking about my speakers and my speaker platform, we sometimes need some variety so now I’m going to talk about boundaries.
How many times in your life have you set boundaries in place both professionally and personally?
I grew up in a family of introverts and throughout my childhood the aim was to be safe, secure, content and to not ‘rock the boat’ or ‘make a fuss’ and if bad things happened you tried to absorb them and, goodness me, you never ‘washed your dirty linen’ in public.
Sometimes that’s sage advice. There’s nothing wrong with being content and wanting things to be smooth and easy. Nothing at all.
However life can come along and shake that up. It will have happened to all of us and then we are called to consider our decisions, our behaviours, our reactions and the consequences of all of those. None of us will ever be perfect in this. None of us will get it all right and some of us will get it spectacularly wrong.
I’m now approaching 60 and I’m not going to be silenced when someone breaks my boundaries — I’m not going to just put up and shut up. I refuse to be invisible and if people don’t like that then they can just move along.
