SETTLE DOWN WITH A CUPPA & WATCH THE APPRENTICE 2025

Thursday evenings in the UK, the end of January mean just one thing — it’s time for the latest series of The Apprentice, where 18 would-be business partners take part in 12 very artificial tasks to try to win a £250,000 investment from Lord Alan Sugar. I love this show.

This series is my guilty pleasure as it puts business owners, often younger, into a hot house environment to see what happens. This first episode of the series did not disappoint. A beauty salon owner lined up with an air conditioning sales persona alongside a motivational speaker and others to test themselves.

Once again the series starts with all 18 candidates making dramatic statements about their success, ambitions and their will to win — always good for a laugh.

Immediately two candidates stood out as being annoying and, perhaps, insufferable know-it-alls — Nadia and Carlo. Would this play out in this episode?

In a word ‘yes’.

The task was to go to Austria, split into two teams, this time not boys v girls, for the first time I can remember, and sell a day-trip experience. The team which made the most profit would win. Simple.

One team had to sell a glacier trip, another a forest day out. In the glacier team there was a clash over who should be project leader — gobby Nadia or the woman…
